Abstract

Cognitive performance has appeared critical to successful educational institutions in contemporary times and has attracted a big attention recently. So, this study examines knowledge capital effects and organisational learning on the cognitive performance of Iraqi universities. In addition, it examines the mediation of organisational capabilities in the relationship between knowledge capital, organisational learning, and cognitive processes, the moderating effect of government support on the link between organisational capabilities and cognitive performance. It used survey questionnaires for collecting primary data from students at Iraqi universities and Smart-PLS for the analysis of the relationships of variables under study. The findings show a positive relationship between knowledge capital, organisational learning, and cognitive performance. Also, the results show that organisational capabilities are significant in mediating in the relationships between knowledge capital, organisational learning, and cognitive performance, and the government support significantly moderates the relationship between organisational capabilities and cognitive performance. This study contributes to policymakers, providing guidance on the development of the regulations for enhancing cognitive performance by the effective utilisation of knowledge capital, organisational learning, and organisational capabilities.
